Wendel by Roger Nichols

Roger Nichols built Wendel in 1978 to give Steely Dan drum tracks that sounded like a drummer and kept time like a machine. He built Wendel Jr. in 1985. In 1993 he engineered Donald Fagen's Kamakiriad and sampled the drums, basses, clavinet and piano at the sessions. This is all of it, in his folders with his file names, plus the same sounds already built into playable kits for your software.

The Wendel half is the 503 drum and percussion samples from Wendel and Wendel Jr. They were transferred and converted from Roger's original 50 kHz / 16-bit masters by his protégé Jason Levine: DC offset removed, full scale hits corrected, file names untouched, 24-bit / 48 kHz. His engineering credit is in the metadata of every file.

The Kamakiriad half is 214 samples Roger recorded at the Kamakiriad sessions, converted from his raw files by the estate and mastered the same way: the drums for Tomorrow's Girls, Snowbound, Teahouse on the Tracks, Springtime and Florida Room, eighteen bass notes, a clavinet sampled note by note, two of Donald Fagen's piano chords, and Roger playing the kits in time.
